Mayaula Mayoni Biography
Mayoni, a computer technology graduate from a European university, formerly of Congo's Vita Club football team, was a member on and off of Franco's TPOK Jazz, played in other bands, and put out a number of solo recordings in the TPOK Jazz vein. "Ba Chagrins" was issued in Kenya as ASL Records ASL 3390:
Ba chagrins seems not to have been released internationally but was a hit in Nairobi, popularised by VOK's Eddy Fondo among others. I still vividly remember scenes as the smooth tune roared out of my cheap mono radio back then.
Update
Sadly we learned 2 days ago (05/26/2010) Freddy Mayaula Mayoni died in Brussels, he was 64 years old. Sorry for the late update. He had suffered from a stroke some years ago and got partly
paralised. Yet another great one lost. RIP Mayoni.
